History of Prefect

A long time ago,

'Prefect' comes from the word praefectus which means 'the one who stands in front' (of others). The prefect was an official who was appointed by a magistrate, for a fixed period and a special task.

but today,

A school prefect is a person who monitors and sees to it that rules of the school are abided by students.

In the position of prefect is a position of responsibility and one which provides an important connection between students, teachers and staff.

Becoming a prefect is a valuable goal and the position of prefect forms a valuable part of a student’s personal development, opening their mind to new levels of responsibility and participation in a very positive way. Prefects are a tremendous help to the school and play a particularly important role in mentoring younger students.

Apart from that, a prefectorial board now is seen as a very effective medium for the students to build up the leadership in them. Handling grand school programmes, passing words of encouragement and advises are just another part of our contribution. And the most vital function of a prefectorial board is to make sure laws are trully created for the better atmosphere in a school compound. As a wise man once said, discpiline shapes perfection.

Now, keeping up with Jonesses, we are moving another step forward in creating a line of communication where we can reach people and the society outside with just a click. We will share with you the vision, mission and the objective of our praefectus. Updating you up with the current grand or even small activities of the school which are not being publicized with sufficient informations. Commentaries, testimonials, suggestions, offers and linkages are welcomed.

THANK YOU FOR JOINING US
